Day 1
Arrive Johannesburg International Airport. Welcomed by local tour representative and
transferred to the The Michelangelo Towers, situated in Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City.
Rising an impressive 135 metres above the Sandton skyline, the Towers offer
panoramic views of the Magaliesberg and Gauteng skylines. With 194 suites of unparalleled luxury,
complete business facilities, indoor and outdoor pools as well as a private gymnasium, it is truly a
place where acquired tastes are acquired.
Relax at the hotel or rejuvenate your senses at the spa.
Day 2
Enjoy breakfast before checking out. Transfer to Capital Park Station where you'll board
the Pride of Africa.
The train will head east towards Nelspruit and the picturesque Lowveld region.
Enjoy the views from the large windows of the observation car, catch up with your reading
in the lounge car and take advantage of the fine dining in the beautifully restored dining cars.
Day 3
At 10am the golfers tee off at the Hans Merensky Golf Estate's 18 hole course. This
championship golf course borders the Kruger National Park resulting in wildlife often being spotted
on the fairways. Greet the African dawn on the manicured fairways of the challenging 18 hole, par
72 championship golf course, where crocodile and hippo add spice to the normal hazards of a good
game of golf.
If you are not a golfer you depart at 9am on a game drive in the Kruger Park followed by
lunch, returning in time to join the golfers and continue onto Swaziland.
Day 4
09h00 You tee off at the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club near Manzini.
The spectacular 18 hole championship course at the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club is one
of the most scenically rewarding to be found anywhere in the world, with a different
mountainscape to be enjoyed from every tee and green.
As a non-golfer you head to the Ngwena Glass Factory, at 09h30. Followed by lunch at
Malandelas before you go on a game drive in Mkhaya Game Reserve.
Day 5
An early start this morning as you set off at 06h00 on an early morning game drive in
Hluhluwe Game Reserve.
Set in the heart of Zululand, the oldest game reserve in Africa where Zulu kings such as
Dingiswayo and Shaka hunted and put in place the first conservation laws, where today
the "Big Five" of African legend stalk the verdant savannah.
Established in 1895, game viewing is the prime attraction. Viewing hides overlook
waterholes enabling visitors to see animals at close range.
By 10:30am you are on the train again, heading for the east coast city of Durban
where you will have dinner at one of the city's restaurants.
Day 6
Tee off at Durban Country Club Golf Course. Golf carts included.
Extremely challenging to the most skilled golfer, the course will be enjoyed, but rarely
mastered. Elevated tees and greens are guarded by an array of tropical bushes, tall trees
and large bunkers. This, together with the narrow fairways and steep slopes make for a challenging
round of golf.
If you are not playing golf you can go on a city tour of Durban, followed by lunch at the
Durban Beachwood Country Club.
Day 7
The golfers can take in the majestic mountain scenery as they play the course at
Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg.
All the greens are of the highest quality and are planted with L93 Bent-grass which have
proven extremely suitable for the region, particularly in winter where the greens remain 'green',
receptive and true to line, whilst the 84 well appointed and well shaped bunkers that line fairways
and greens all have white Silica sand and will be appreciated by professional and novice alike for
their consistency. Golf carts available.
For the non-golfer, today you can take in the scenery on a walk around the Champagne
Sports Resort or go on a professional tour of the Battlefields near Ladysmith, followed by a spot of
shopping before rejoining the train.
Day 8
You depart Ladysmith early in the morning and spend the day at leisure on the train as it
passes through sprawling rural landscapes on your way to Sun City.
Day 9
Tee off at Gary Player Golf Course.
This is a notoriously difficult course set in Sun City's spectacular grounds. All 18 holes are
challenging, boasting plenty of bunkers and water hazards in the shape of rivers and dams.
Although this parkland course is fairly flat, the many water hazards,
cunning sited bunkers and hidden pin placement make up for the lack of gradient, the course is
immaculate with generally wide Kikuyu fairways and Bent greens.
As a non-golfer you have the chance to explore all that Sun City has to offer. A late
lunch for both golfers and non-golfers is served at the club and is followed by a game drive in
Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
Day 10
A short journey in the morning will deliver you back to Capital Park Station in Pretoria.
Enjoy a privately guided tour of Pretoria, South Africa's capital.
Visit the Union Buildings, one of Pretoria's most prominent buildings, watching over the city
in all its splendour. For many South Africans the Union Building is the most beautiful government
residence in the world. It does indeed look majestic and lends a solemn environment to the official
acts of the respective President.
Tour the Voortrekker Monument, where the architect, Gerard Moerdijk's plan was to
conceive a "monument that would stand a thousand years to describe the history and the
meaning of the Great Trek to its descendants."
Return transfer to Michelangelo Towers Hotel situated in Nelson Mandela Square and
spend the evening at leisure.
Day 11
Check out after breakfast and enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel or do some last minute gift
shopping at Sandton City Mall. Transfer to Johannesburg International for your flight back
home.
