The course layout is regarded as an imposing
championship venue. Wind, trees, marshes, bunkers, heavy rough and, of course many water hazards
are features of this historic course.
The Lakes has long been a major tournament venue having hosted many events including the
Australian Open, Australian PGA, Ampol Tournament, Chrysler Classic, Johnnie Walker Classic, Greg
Norman Holden International and the ANZ Championship. The course continues to maintain its
reputation as a great challenge to any golfer.
The golf course is renowned for its presentation and is generally regarded as one of the best wet
weather courses in the region. The final nine holes bordering the Botany Aquifer and wetlands area,
with an abundance of wild life, scenic views and a range of tempting golf shots, makes a round of golf
at The Lakes a memorable experience.
